November 15th

WOW! Nobody is posting! What's with you all?

We had one heck of a thunderstorm last night - woke us all up - sounded like it was right over our house. It lasted about 2 hours and we got almost 2 inches of rain. Most of the leaves are gone from the trees now and our patio is a carpet of yellow, gold, and red - pretty. Dad and I sat in the kitchen during all this - didn't think i'd ever get back to sleep. (I can't seem to carriage return to make a new paragraph.) Dad saw doctor yesterday and he is making progress in the right direction! I just finished reading The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society having to do with the Nazi occupation of Guernsey during WWII - excellent. Just started Wally Lamb's latest - about 50 pages in and so far, so good. It has to do with the Columbine shooting and had I known that I wouldn't have bought it. Oh, well. Am signing off now - hope you all will be posting soon. Hugs and kisses all around!

Wow - what a couple of days. I loved working the Democratic tent on election day even thru the rain. It was wonderful to see carloads of young African-Americans pulling up and spilling out of their cars. They would look at me warily and then erupt in big smiles when they saw I was handing out Democratic information. Some of them even said they were taking home all the info to keep as souveneirs. Lots of older white folks came (probably to preserve the GOP;), and they all looked grumpy (angry). Enough of them harumphed and sniffed when I proffered my Democratic information and refused to take any. When I told my co-workers (all black) that these old white folks intimidated me, they all howled with laughter.

Anyhow, what a day! We went out to dinner just to pass some time before election results came in. I refused to go to the local "victory" party - wanted my own television with no distractions. We watched all the results and when Obama gave his speech we were sitting up in bed (in the dark) with tears and clapping! What a wonderful man, and his family is darling. Those little girls are beautiful. And I love, love, love Joe Biden. I have but one complaint - would someone please take Mrs. Obama clothes shopping!!!! With her terrific figure she would look spectacular in everything but what she tends to chose.!

I just checked the Virginia Board of Elections website and it shows that Thelma Drake LOST and Virgil Goode is behind Periello. The Goode/Periello result is pretty close and no doubt ol Virgil will demand a recount. It will good riddance to Goode - what an embarassment he is.

Now to find out who Obama picks for his staff and cabinet. I have no doubt that he will surround himself with the best and brightest!

And a little thought I had - how about in 8 years Hilary Clinton vs. Sarah Palin!!!! Wouldn't you love to watch that debate?
NO - I AIN'T GOIN TO DC AND THAT'S FINAL! I like my king-size bed. I like sleeping between Ma and Pa, I like eating crumbs and tidbits off Pa's belly and prowling the dining room table for treats, and I especially like all my "spots." However, I would be happy to become daddy to the first dog's first litter!

AND -- furthermore -- I think the first family should consider cats. I know where they can get a bunch of them!

Fritz for First Dog

Dear President Elect Obama,

Let me outline my qualifications for the position of First Dog.

1. I am very small, and will have no impact on the national debt.
2. I am gentle and kind.....except to a certain other dachsund.
3. I am house trained....I only mark things that I like.
4. My caretakers, who naturally would come along, will ensure that your little girls wont' have to do a thing except play with me once in a while.
5. My large big sister will guard against any potential intruders. Especially falling leaves or passing deer, squirrels, or acorns.
6. I will not need to take a salary - just a few weeks vacation a year to visit my homestead to make sure it's still there. And my caretakers will be very comfortable in the Lincoln bedroom.
7. I am extremely intelligent and can be sure to make better decisions on such things as economic policy, health care, education, and foreign policy than that other guy who has a Scottie dog now.
8. I am pretty sure I could take that little dog, Barney, any day.
9. My mom comes with a free fashion advice service for the first lady. I hope she likes L.L. Bean.
10. And look at that face, those eyes:

Well - the BIG day is finally here! I just checked Daily Kos and see that Obama won in Dixville Notch - 15 votes to McCain's 6! Hope that is a national trend!

Dad and I will be "minding" the Democratic table at our local precinct. We did this in 04 and I loved doing it. I was just outside with Fritzy - it's RAINING!! hope it clears up before election time. Then later we are going out for dinner but hope to be home by 7. There will be a party at a local restaurant in town and if we go it will be much later. I like my own TV with no interference! Plus, whenever I think of Obama winning I start "tearing" up. I met an Obama volunteer yesterday while grocery shopping and we both stood there crying. I feel so sad that Obama's grandmother died, but then I tell myself that she is now an angel and will watch over and protect him.

My next problem will be figuring out what to do with myself when this election is over. Guess it's back to housework and gardening!

GO VOTE EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!

Saturday, November 1, 2008

Hey gang! This is Fritz and you betcha I'm votin for Obama! That other guy's wife wanted to make a coat out of my dalmation friend, and the saracuda wanted to fly in a helicopter over Virginia and shoot Bambi. Don't trust 'em. But that Obama guy's okay. His skin even matches mine and I like that! So does my ma. That fella Joe is pretty much okay too, even if he has more hair than my pa. I think his hair is peculiar, tho. I'm goin to the polls on Tuesday with ma and pa giving out dog bones to all the democrats and lifting my leg on the snotty republicans - I call it the MARK OF FRITZ kinda like Zorro, ya know. Ma and Pa say they will vote as many times as they can and if I weren't so short I would pull some levers too.

Arf!
