What was the first book you read all by yourself?

My answers:

1. Where the Wild Things Are, but it may have been The Little Engine That Could, or Ukelele and her New Doll (now a collector's item which I found for sale for $175!! and I had the record, too!). In any case, I loved all three books immensely.

2. Cold is the Grave by Peter Robinson. Still reading it actually. Not anything deep, but a good read for during the school year when reading is a real escape.
